No wonder there's no comments under this, it drags you to the core of Earth to burn. Now I know what hell feels like. The sulphur smell is somewhat French though. Which is not a bad thing for hell.
To tear apart the flesh
so that the soul may roam free
in the endless nothing
that comes after Death
On this haunting sophomore offering Dutch black metal specter Verwoed peels back even more layers from its hideous amalgamation of atmospheric black metal bedlam, to expose incredibly dense and much more psychedelic and hallucinogenic cosmic textures than ever before, while remaining yielding in its nihilistic and violent tactics. At times twisted and disorienting, at times meditative and defiant, "De Val" is a sprawling demonstration of superb abstract black metal despondency which confirms Verwoed as one of European black metal's most daring and visionary acts.

I've long needed to add this to my collection on bandcamp, because it was an album I regularly streamed on various platforms, and yet (to my eternal shame) neglected to purchase in any format. Sounding like a more haunted and progressive relative of 1349 or Abgott, Sinmara are about as distinctly Icelandic a black metal band you could ever wish for. Ben Harris
I've kept this album in my wishlist for a year waiting for the right time, right place. I think this is it now, for reasons known to me. And it's possibly one of the most important albums of this time (together with Mgła's Age of Excuse).
Worse still, one of the most important works of art of this time: not just in metal and not just in music.
And OK, my lovely one from them.
How tf anybody can call DsO fascists because of this remains inconceivable to me. YomaBarr
